Can You Use a GIF as a Discord Banner?

Are you one of the many users of Discord? If so, you can upload files in GIF format. However, keep in mind that you can crop images after uploading them, but not GIFs. When you make your profile banner a GIF, it appears animated in the preview, but once you save the changes, it becomes static. This 600x240 banner can be as simple as a solid color or have an eye-catching animation to match an animated server icon. If you're trying to upload a GIF as an avatar, make sure you have at least one Discord Classic subscription.

You can coordinate the banner to match your profile picture, show off your favorite game character, or display a cool illustration. With this feature implemented, Nitro users will have the option to create and upload custom profile banners that reflect their interests or personality. Sometimes, the Discord server considers the GIF as an image when it is loaded from the camera roll, so uploading it as a file solves the problem. It's important to note that this is a different size than the standard 1920 x 1080 server banner that moderators can use to set up a new Discord server. To fix Discord GIFs not working, you can turn off Reduce Motion from iOS settings if you're an iOS or iPadOS user.

Additionally, turn on “Automatically play GIFs when possible” in the Discord settings to automatically play GIFs. Gg makes it easy to find the best profile pictures and banners to use on Discord, Tiktok, Twitter and anywhere else. In some cases, your profile doesn't sync correctly with the Discord server, so GIFs don't work or upload and cause problems. But for many users, a poor internet connection causes the GIF to not load properly, and the Discord server gets a damaged GIF file that it can't play.
